Little Creek Reservoir Park at Sunset

We'd had some terrific, warm days in January and I had noticed that the sunsets were spectacular. After checking the weather forecast and reading that the string of beautiful days was about to come to an end, I decided to go out to Little Creek Reservoir Park to see if I could capture one of those sunsets with my camera before the cold gray days returned.

I snuck out of work about an hour early, so that I could go home and change clothes and make the 20-minute drive out to the park. Once at the park, I had to leave my car at the end of the entrance road and walk in so that it wouldn't get trapped when the city worker locks the gate at sundown. Then I hoofed it down a trail to the spot where this image was taken.

It was really cool to watch the changes in color of the sky and the cloud formations as the sun went down. About 30 minutes after arriving at my spot and about 5 minutes after the sun dipped below my horizon, I snapped this image:
